Gold reaction to US data

A growing record of what gold did after each release — not what commentators said it would do. Consensus, actual, and the move over the first five, thirty and sixty minutes.

Why this exists

Every other site tells you what should happen

Gold's reaction to a data print is the part of the market that repeats: the same asymmetry shows up around hot versus soft core inflation, and around payrolls beats versus misses. This table records it as it happens, so the next print has something to be measured against.

  • Consensus first. A surprise is only a surprise relative to what was expected.
  • Measured, not remembered. Moves are taken from broker tick data around the release timestamp.
  • Nothing unverified. A row is published only once the print and the price reaction are both sourced.

Moves are quoted in USD per troy ounce. A positive figure means gold traded higher than the pre-release level at that mark. Sources are linked per row so every number can be checked.
